Antalya Museum



The Antalya Museum is among the leading museums in the world with its Sculpture Works from the Roman period and unique finds found during the rescue excavations of the museum. In Antalya, which is a unique open air museum with its archeological richness and the international excavation center, many excavations and research have been carried out by Turkish, German, American, French, Austrian and English archaeologists and science comissions. Most of the rescue excavations in the region and the environmental arrangement have been performed by the curators of the museum. The museum was awarded "The Prize of the Best Museum" by the European Council in 1988.

Perge Archeological Site



The city of Perge is 17 km east of Antalya city centre, within the borders of Aksu. It is not only the most organized part of the region but also for the whole of Anatolia. Its sculpture is as popular as its architecture. The important monumental structures of the city have been discovered through excavations made by the University of Istanbul since 1946 and due to the finds of sculptures Antalya Museum has one of the richest collections of Roman sculpture.Historians considered Perge was founded at the end of the Trojan wars (1275 B.C)

Side Museum



Further along the road is the amphitheatre, which is now being extensively renovated, is now being used again for concerts in the summer months. On the right hand side of the road are the Roman baths, now used as a museum. On display is an excellent collection of Roman period statues, busts and sarcophagi that were unearthed during the course of the excavations. The statues are in very good condition and depict mythological figures such as Hermes, Heracles and Nike.


Side Antique City



The Theater lies on the narrowest part of the peninsula and the central side of Side. Although the theater plan has a Hellenistic tradition, the building has a Roman architectural tradition in structure. The Theater of Side is a unique example of this type of structure. Skenae Frons has a three- storey colonnade façade. The façade decoration has a characteristic of Antonine Period. In the first storey  the Dionysos Friese can be seen.





Aspendos is known for the best preserved Roman Age theater of Mediterranean World. The city was founded on the hill plane close to one of the biggest rivers of the region Köprüçay (Antique Eurymedon). The coins named Estvediys were minted in 5th century B.C. . The name having Anatolian-origin, is the evidence that the city was a settlement all along.




Manavgat Waterfall



The waterfall like many is not high with foaming white water rushing powerfully over the rocks but a horseshoe shaped one with water gently falling in Manavgat River.
There is a communal area situated next to the waterfall where photographs of the scenery can be taken. The shady tea garden, restaurants and craft stalls at the waterfall make it a pleasant, cool resting spot where people can have a picnic and a great day out to spend with the family.
It can get a little busy on a hot summer's day but it's easy enough to be able to walk upstream to avoid the crowds and relax.

Archeological Museum


The İstanbul Archaeological Museums, which is housing various artifacts from civilizations that had left their traces to different periods of the history, is one of the 10 most important world-class museums designed and used as a museum building. Additionally, it is the first institution in Turkey arranged as a museum. Besides its spectacular collections, the architectural aspects of its buildings and its garden are of historical and natural importance.




Hagia Sophia


The Hagia Sophia, one of the historical architectural wonders that still remains standing today, has an important place in the art world with its architecture, grandness, size and functionality.

The Hagia Sophia, the biggest church constructed by the East Roman Empire in Istanbul, has been constructed three times in the same location. When it was first built, it was named Megale Ekklesia (Big Church); however, after the fifth century, it was referred to as the Hagia Sophia (Holy Wisdom). The church was the place in which rulers were crowned, and it was also the biggest operational cathedral in the city throughout the Byzantine period.


Topkapı Palace


After the conquest of Istanbul by Mehmed the Conqueror at 1453, construction of the Topkapı Palace was started at the year 1460 and completed at 1478 . Palace was built upon a 700.000 squaremeters area on an Eastern Roman Acropolis located at the Istanbul Peninsula between Sea of Marmara, Bosphorus and the Golden Horn. Topkapı Palace, was the administrative, educational and art center of the Empire for nearly four hundred years since Mehmed the Conqueror until Sultan Abdulmecid who is the thirty-first Sultan. Although Palace was abandoned by the Ottoman Dynasty by moving to the Dolmabahçe Palace at middle 19th century, Topkapı Palace was protected its importance everytime.
